Frequently Asked Questions

  • What can I expect from therapy?

Therapy can be extremely beneficial and can help reduce stress, anxiety, depression, and many other symptoms. However, therapy requires a very active effort on clients’ parts. In order for therapy to be successful, clients will have to work on things discussed in session both during session and at home. It is a collaborative understanding between client and therapist.

  • What will the first session involve?

During the first session, we will take time to discuss your goals for therapy and what you are hoping to gain from our time together. We will discuss, in more detail, the therapeutic process and methods used in therapy. This will also be a time to review any additional questions you may have about therapy.

  • What do I need to bring to therapy?

I always recommend bringing a notebook or notepad. This can be helpful for documenting your own ideas and thoughts as we work. You are also always welcome to bring a drink or snack with you!

  • Do I have to fill out paperwork?

There will be intake paperwork provided at the first session. I recommend arriving 15-20 minutes early in order to complete this paperwork. Additional paperwork will be provided at the first session that will need to be completed and returned. Assessments may also be provided to be completed and returned.
